Sports at Your School

Dade County Sports offers professionally coached athletic programs at your school, after school. Kids are grouped by age and skill level and taught fundamental skills through age-appropriate games and instruction in a fun, recreational setting. Our programs are designed to increase confidence and help kids lead a healthy, active lifestyle, eventually competing for their schools or travel teams.

Registration is per quarter (6–9 weeks). Prices vary depending on quarter length and activities chosen. Each quarter includes weekly practices and seasonal tournaments, allowing kids to apply the skills they learned and compete. All programs are for boys and girls, grades PreK to 8.

Basketball

Boys & Girls, Grades 2–8

Practices are generally two days per week. In each practice, kids are grouped by age and ability. Our professional coaches will highlight fundamental skills such as passing, shooting, receiving, and dribbling. All levels of play will scrimmage and practice offensive and defensive plays. Practices begin with a warm-up, followed by games, drills, and exercises, followed by a debriefing and cool-down phase.

The atmosphere is positive and fun with an emphasis on team-building and sportsmanship. Each quarter includes at least one basketball and soccer Tournament Day for kids to try out the skills they learned and compete.

Lacrosse

Boys & Girls, Grades 2–8
Powered by Miami Mahi Lacrosse
Directed by Jim Piggot, Gulliver Head Varsity Coach & Program Director

Our Purpose: Our goal is to introduce lacrosse to Miami-Dade youth players so student athletes can try the fastest sport on two feet! Lacrosse is a high-intensity, upbeat sport that merges elements of football, basketball, and soccer into one. These courses are great for beginners that have never picked up a stick. So come out and see what everyone is talking about!

Practices: These are the most basic lacrosse lessons for players new to the sport. We provide all equipment and focus on conditioning, as well as passing, catching, and shooting techniques. There is no contact in these beginner classes. This is a perfect way to try the sport out and see if your athlete will like it.

Classes include: Warm up; passing and catching; shooting; cutting; ground balls; and a breakdown and debriefing session.

USTA QuickStart Tennis

Boys & Girls, All Grades
Powered by the Jane Forman Tennis Academy

Utilizing the USTA’s QuickStart format, our staff will bring portable nets, racquets and balls to your school, after school, where your child will practice, play games and learn the fundamentals of tennis in a fun, recreational setting.

About QuickStart Tennis: USTA 10 & Under Tennis, also known as QuickStart, follows the same logic as other youth sports like baseball or soccer, utilizing specialized courts and child-friendly equipment.

Balls bounce lower, don’t move as fast through the air and are easier to hit. Racquets are sized for small hands and the courts are smaller and easier to cover. The results are immediate and within a short time, your kids will be rallying, scoring points, and having a great time, excited to learn more tennis.

Flag Football

Boys & Girls, Grades 2–5

Flag Football is a version of football in which participants pull each others’ flags instead of tackling. Through drills and games, kids will learn how to pull the flags, run pass routes and play defense. Coaches will focus on football-style fitness and scrimmages.

Flag football gives every child the chance to be an impact player. Kids of all sizes are throwing and catching the ball, making interceptions, pulling flags on defense and running for 50-yard touchdowns—all while getting exercise, making friends, and having fun.
